Top Tip for a Successful Dry July - No 7. Trying To Stop Drinking.

This sounds counter intuitive but, all that stopping and starting plays havoc with our hearts as nervous systems.

This is a great opportunity to take a break and rest our ‘trying’ muscles for a little. In the methodology I teach we call it The Pause.

It is the very best preparation for taking a successful break. Stop breaking your trust in yourself and get into choice.

Don’t go nuts, and if you are on a roll don’t go back to drinking. But if you are breaking your own heart on a daily basis and beating yourself up. Then stop trying and start learning and observing. Become a data gatherer. Get curious.

This is a time to take your foot of the peddle and get mindful with your drinking. Start to understand what are your routines, rituals and triggers around drinking as well as what is the actual physical and emotional experience of drinking.

This is so helpful for taking a 30 day break that feels effortless and makes alcohol a non issue
